Troubleshooting WiFi using Windows 7 native tools and inSSIDer 2.1


+ Below looks at utilizting the native Windows 7 tools to analysis the current wireless connectivity.  Application inSSIDer 2.1 (home edition) is a free tool  used to verify the SSID signal strenght and connection stats.
Kit: Windows 7 Laptop
Wireless Card: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265
inSSIDer 2.1.6 (Metageek)
WiFi Settings: SSID: vodafone-CFE3
Radio Band: 2.4GHz
Signal Stenght: -40dBm
Channel: 5
Windows 7 CMD:
Display wireless interfaces and connection state.
cmd->netsh wlan show interfaces
Display the wireless drivers installed.
cmd->netsh wlan show drivers
Display Signal Strenght/Radio type/Channel/Basic & Other rates supported
cmd->netsh wlan show network mode=bssid
Windows 7 GUI:
Wireless Network Connection Status –  Displays the Wireless Network Connection Status (SSID/Speed (Mbps)/Signal Quality/IP Address etc…)
Windows Network Diagnostics – Displays the Signal strength (dB) and channel number and much more

Filter by SSID name and radio band
2.4 GHz Channels Graph
Time Graph  – Signal Strength over time. Useful when roaming
